Resolving Download Issues


Issue:  After you download ProAPOD® from your Customer Account page you are unable to locate the software on your computer.

Cause:  Security measures enforced by the web browsers no longer enable software like ProAPOD® to be installed directly from the web and now require you to "download" the software to your computer and then "install" the software from your computer.

  1. Download - During this process the web browser downloads the appropriate ProAPOD® file from our website to your computer (the software is not installed or ready to use).
  2. Install - After you double-click the appropriate ProAPOD® file on your computer, the software will install correctly on your computer (the software is ready to use).

Resolution:  This article offers "several options" how you can locate the appropriate ProAPOD® file on you computer in order to properly install the software.

A. OPTION-1
"Search Your Computer"

If you correctly downloaded ProAPOD® from our website to your computer (this would have occurred immediatedly after you clicked Download from your Customer Account page) then the appropriate file is on your computer and you must locate it.

1. From your desktop click Start then Search.

2. Click "All files and folders".

3. In the box labeled "All or part of the file name" enter the appropriate file name then click Search.

Note The appropriate file names are as follows:

  1. ProAPOD_TVM.exe - Mortgage Calculator Software
  2. ProAPOD_inv.exe - 4.0 Software
  3. ProAPOD_basic.exe - 6.0 Software
  4. ProAPOD_cfa.exe - 10.0 Software
  5. ProAPOD_b2cupgrade.exe - 6.0 to 10.0 Upgrade Software

4. Locate the appropriate file in the Name pane and double-click it to begin the installation and then simply follow the installation instructions.

B. OPTION-2
"Search Firefox"

If Firefox is your default browser, you can easily look for the location where Firefox downloads files to your computer from the web.

Note Internet Explorer (IE) does not enable any easy way to find where it downloads files to your computer from the web. If you use IE, use OPTION-1 above.

1. Open Firefox, then from the toolbar click Tools then Options...

2. Look for your location alongside "Save files to" In this case they are saved on my "Desktop". So I will close Firefox, find the appropriate ProAPOD® file on my desktop, and then double-click it to install the software.

Result: Once ProAPOD® is installed correctly, two icons will appear on your desktop that enable you to open the program easily.
